The Basics of Healthy Meals

Creating healthy meals can be easy. What's required is a little imagination, and a willingness to try some new ideas, and to make some small changes in what you eat.

To do that, it's a good idea to figure out what you are currently eating. That way, you will be able to compare it to what the expert recommend that you eat each day.

Take any day and write down what you eat and when. To start making dietary changes, you may want to consider the following advice from health experts. Click on the food pyramid icon for information on recommended food groups.

Generally, the experts recommend the following,

2) Healthy meals will limit salt, sugar, and saturated fats.

These are easy steps you can take today. Compare what is on the list you wrote down to what you could switch it out for and start today.

Try eating a piece of fruit for breakfast, instead of a sausage egg biscuit. Or better yet, try drinking your own homemade fruit smoothie.

Here is what is happening.

Your body is screaming for fuel. It's called nutrition. You are not getting the fuel you need from processed foods you buy at the store, or from restaurant foods.

You are not getting nutrition! Repeat! You are not getting nutrition!

Processed foods are generally void of nutritional value. What are processed foods? Most anything that is packaged, ready to go, quick and easy meal stuff.

When you eat processed foods, it's like throwing wet logs on a simmering fire. Nothing is going to happen, there is not enough critical mass going to get those logs to burn.

Your body just stores it as fat and waste.

That's not going to happen as long as you keep feeding it food with no nutrition...

...Where are you going with this?

If you feed your body with nutritious foods, your body will stop screaming at you for more food! This will start the weight loss process, and help jump start your metabolism.

This is a very small step you can take to jump start your diet, and one you can accomplish today! Your choice!

Select a diet you can live with to. Just make sure it is easy to follow.

By the way, one of the easiest and most delicious ways to start the process is to make your own healthy fruit smoothies. Or try a healthy vegetable smoothie mix.

For weight loss to occur, you need to consume fewer calories than you burn. By feeding yourself nutritious foods, you naturally consume fewer calories, and you won't starve yourself on some suicide diet!

If this sounds too simple, it's because it is, you don't want to set a goal so hard to reach that you can't reach it. By starting with smaller goals that you can achieve, you will be re aligning yourself to set more goals and achieve those.

You will be on your way to creating healthy meals that will change the way you think about what you eat and when!

One small step for mankind....
